full of turkey

  • North Carolina and Minnesota are the nation's two leading turkey-producing states.
  • Turkeys can drown if they look up when its raining.
  • When the Airforce was first conducting test runs on breaking the sound barrier, fields of turkeys would drop dead from apparent heart attacks.

No, I got it from a real live book, which I meant to say is called:

"The Book of Thanksgiving: Stories, Poems, and Recipies for Sharing One of America's Greatest Holidays" (Faust, Jessica, 2002).

I grabbed it off the shelf at the library where they put books that are either relavent to the time of year (like gardening or Thanksgiving) or they involve things in the news (wars, biographies of people who have passed, etc.).

I'm using the recipes from the book for crudite dips for you shower, lovely sister!

Wild turkeys can be really nasty - there was a flock terrorizing my brother's neighborhood in Stratford a few years ago - they pinned my sister-in-law and her two little kids in the car in their own driveway! Every time she tried to open the car door and get out, they attacked with fierce gobbling beaks. I forget what happened next, but they must have gotten out, because they're alive to tell about it today...
