serendipity

The serendipitous moment came this weekend as I was shuffling things around my house, including the television and all it's counterparts. While attempting to re-plug-in the sattelite receiver to the television in my new bedroom, it fell or something, the details are hazy. It stopped working. What to do? Watch television using an antenna or rabbit ears or some such contraption? Not in this house. After some online research and the suggestion from my husband to "see how much Tivo costs" we came to understand that a DirecTV receiver would cost about $65 while a DirecTV receiver with DVR would be free, less the $4.99 monthly subscription service. Eureka.

After a trip to Circuit City and a lengthy phone call with Jonathan from 1-800-DirecTV, I now feel a little more "with it" in terms of popular culture. I still don't have an iPod, but there is absolutely no justification in the whole world that I will ever ever need one, unfortunately.

Just for the record, I really didn't mean to break the receiver. But I sure am happy with the outcome of it all. If it weren't for the horrible time I just had at the library this morning, I would be downright giddy. Veronica is already scheduled to record on Wednesday evening, and I recorded Gray's Anatomy last night and went to bed early because I was tired. I can also stop worrying about the baby being born on a Wednesday night causing me to miss a new episode of Veronica.

Speaking of the new baby, both Gerald and his mom (noted in the past for their psychic abilities when it comes to predicting the sex of babies) have declared that they believe the new baby will be a boy. Perhaps my own declaration that this will be the second and final baby I bring into the world will turn out to be false, as I would really love to have a girl called Maggie with curly red hair and a fine temperment.

Ahh yes, the DVR. The best thing that has came into my life besides my wife, oh and my ipod, which by the way, they are quite annoying I believe. They are nice because no more hassel with the cd's but other then that, I hate it. But that DVR, if you dont already, you'll love it. Now lets talk about this Direct TV thing...no no no, you need to switch to Dish Network. Direct Tv will screw you over. Ok then...have a good day.
